If this is the case - where do they get it? Are they supposed to be solar powered? Because we see that they are immensely evil, and hellbent on destroying civilizations, but I don't see WHERE they get the juice for their evil schenanigans. If humanity was in such an energy crisis, why wouldn't they make use of the Markers' energy? Or if they do, how do they do it, when Markers don't seem to be in contact with anything around them? I'd assume they just magically DO power things, because they appear to be intelligent, but we do see areas full of Markers, where there is an energy outage, so that theory is out of the window.ġ) If the Markers merely transmit energy (which is the only way I can think of that doesn't violate the laws of thermodynamics), then surely the Brethren Moon have massive power supplies they can afford to waste on baiting ascending civilizations. Yet throughout the series Markers are always treated as statues, and never as fancy batteries in fact I would venture as far as saying all spaceships and space stations we see have their own means of self-sustenance and transportations. If they are indeed a source of energy, then it makes sense that humanity would design tools to harness and use this energy, and that space ships would be fueled by this very same energy, among other things. I won't question the idea of HOW the Markers produce energy without source, seemingly violating the 1st law of thermodynamics - it's axiomatic in the franchise, and for all we know, it's less of a source, and more of a conduit.ġ) HOW do Markers power anything in particular? They seem like they are just statues - there is no clear flow of energy from them to other appliances. The series makes it clear that the Marker is a powerful energy source, and as such it is a lucrative prospect for civilizations approaching space faring levels of advancement.
